Food Safe Wood Care Instructions/Recommendations
*Hand Wash only with warm water and mild soap, hot temps will compromise the finish. Bare wood is porous and will absorb unwanted contamination.
*No alcohol, vinegar, or solvent type liquids in bowl or other wood items unless you are attempting to clean and refinish your item. Any contact with this type of solution will result in the finish being compromised and a reconditioning is required.
**Stark’s Wood Thingamajigz does not guarantee our bowls, and other wooden items are leak free. Some of them have unique characters. Be sure to inspect wooden items thoroughly before trying any liquid type things. **
*Liquids in general can be dicey. It is NOT recommended to soak the wood.
*Regular maintenance to the finish is highly recommended. A good ol’ butcher block food safe finish is recommended. We use a mineral oil/beeswax combination for reconditioning our wooden items. We allow the wood to soak in our reconditioning finish for a couple hours and then buff off the excess. Follow whatever instructions come with the finish you choose. Recondition anytime the item seems dry or feels rough, and with a minimum of every 6 months. The base finish when our bowls and food safe items arrive to you with is Tried and True “Original Wood Finish”.
*Do NOT use cooking oils as regular maintenance to the finish as they can go rancid. YUK.
*If you need to deep clean or sanitize your food safe item, you can use a white vinegar and water solution. Recondition your item after it is thoroughly dried to restore your finish.
**Wooden bowls and other wooden items are NOT dishwasher or microwave safe!!!!**
*Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat to avoid cracks and compromise the finish.
